RSVP by Thursday, March 12 for reception following Chapel.  Submit pictures of child with dad by the same date.

 

Memory Verse

Fifth Grade's memory verse for the year is Matthew, Chapter 6

  • Weekly written test for the verse of the week
  • Monthly oral test

Spelling/Vocabulary

Visit Scholastic Word Wizard Dictionary.  Find "Word Games" and click on "Spelling Wizard."  You'll discover a fun way to learn your spelling words.  Also, use the dictionary to find definitions and important information about the words.

Here are some other hints to help you study:

  • Reread the words and discuss definitions
  • Clap the syllables in the word
  • Copy the words on note cards (sort the cards by special sounds)
  • Keep a vocabulary notebook (illustrate some of the words and write a sentence).

Paired Reading:

The student reads aloud with an accomplished reader (e.g., parent, sibling).  Google the term "Paired Reading" for additional information on this reading strategy.
