Subject: Long trip

Hi Everyone,

What a trip! I just returned from a 10 day trip where I was able to speak 12 different times at two different missions conferences. It is good to be home for a couple of weeks. I have another missions conference to go to the middle of March at a new to NTM church. During my little down time I am working on the new house trying to get the painting done. Any of you crafty handy man types out that just can't pass up an opportunity to get a paint brush into your hands let me know. I can always use help. Pray also for wisdom as there are many things that seem to just take up so much time and at the end of the day I look back and ask, "what was accomplished?".

This is an exciting time in the world, God's word is going forth and many are coming to Him despite the unrest. I have just recently heard where many Muslims are using the internet to privately search for Jesus and chat rooms are being set up where they can discuss Jesus without fear of being punished. This is a great thing. Keep praying that a wave of Holy Spirit power would flow over the world to see the last great harvest happen. Then we get to go home!

Thank you always for your continued prayer and support, you are part of God's team!

Hello again from Marueta.

We are doing pretty well here, and I just wanted to update you again on what is going on.We had our normal Church service here this morning, where I taught on themeaning behind Communion, and other stuff. Afterwards, we had a bit of time for anyone that wanted to share to get up and talk, and I would like to share a little of what Tali had to say. He actually shared for around 10 minutes, so this is just a small excerpt, but I thought you all would appreciate it. He said, You all have seen people that want to be rich, how they really work hard to make Manioc, how they put time into buying and selling stuff, how they really work hard to try to accumulate wealth. (At this point I was kind of wondering where he was going with this) He then went on to say that in the same way that they really seek after wealth and things, we should seek after the things of God, to learn from his Word and so on, Spiritual
things. I found that encouraging, and thought you might like it as well.

Anyway, things are going pretty well here. We are getting ready to go downriver to Porvenir again tomorrow, another Maco village where we have been teaching since December. I will be doing some more foundational teaching, and our Coworker Elvia will be going again to continue with Literacy classes.

We would appreciate prayer as we go and teach, that this would not only be a time to teach the people in Porvenir, but that it would be a way of helping the guys from here be better able to teach their own people. Toward
that end, we are trying something for next week.

This week, I assigned a short portion of next weeks lesson to Timbi. He will be studying that portion, and prepare to teach it to the rest of the small group on Thursday as a practice, and then teach it on Tuesday in Porvenir. So, we would appreciate prayer for him, as he studies and prepares to teach it, and prayer for the rest of us that we would know how best to help.

Well, I think that is about all for now.

Thanks much for praying.

Happy Easter.
How are you all doing today?

We had a good meeting here in Marueta today, and I figured I would share a little of it with you.
Today, we had our first Communion service with the believers here. This was one of the things that we held off on for a while, due to some misunderstandings that they had had from previous teaching. Previously, they had thought that there was some secret power invested in Communion, and we heard various accounts of what it was. It ranged from Communion keeping our kids from getting sick, to helping us to learn, to it being what cleanses us of our sins, rather than Christ being the one that cleanses us. Anyway, we waited a while to teach more clearly on it, and this morning we had Communion with the believers here. It was a neat time, and they seemed to have a clear understanding of what it is and isn't. Well, after we had finished, something unexpected happened. First of all, let me step back a bit. Back in November, we had originally planned to teach in the village of Wapuchi, but that ended up falling thru, as the majority of the village wasn't interested. As a result, we ended up teaching in Porvenir instead, where there are a lot of people interested.

Anyway, at Christmas time, several people from Wapuchi came here, to see how the people here spend Christmas, and so on. This week also, a family came from there wanting to see how we spend Easter. This family was one of
the only families that had really been interested in us teaching in Wapuchi. Well, when we finished with Communion, the lady from Wapuchi asked if everyone was done with Communion, and then she started talking a bit. She
started talking from the back, where she had been watching, and came up to the front. Here is the gist of what she had to say. She basically told the people here that she wanted what they have, and said that they would like to come here so that they too can hear the teaching. She said that she and her kids want to hear what they have heard, and
basically asked if they can move here. She got a positive response, so they will likely be moving here sometime in the near future. Afterwards, we had some time for people that wanted to share, and several people got up and shared. The meeting ended up getting a little long, but it was good. So, that was our Easter Morning here.

Tomorrow, we will be heading back to Porvenir again. This week, I will be doing the majority of the teaching, but Timbi will be teaching part of the lesson.

On Thursday, he did some practice teaching to the small group, and did pretty well. There is definitely room for improvement, but if he does as well in Porvenir as here, I will be happy, especially for a first time teaching a lesson like that. I think that he will be teaching either late afternoon tomorrow, or early Tuesday morning. I am sure that he would appreciate your prayer. Then, next week, it will be Walikilo's turn. Walikilo by the way is a young guy from Wapuchi, who married someone from this village several years ago, and moved here. From what we can tell, he has a gift for communicating things clearly. He will be practice teaching on Thursday, and then teaching some next week in Porvenir.

I am hopeful that sometime he and possibly Netico, another guy who moved here from Wapuchi years ago, might go back to Wapuchi sometime to teach the people from there.

I also have a couple of other prayer requests for you.

Ba'aliyu's wife Maria, (They are usually part of our team that goes to Porvenir), has had a problem with her foot for the last month or so. They have been out in town to get medical help since the beginning of March, and she is still having trouble. Also, Netico will be going downriver to see the doctor this week, as he has been having a lot of pain in his side. They would both appreciate prayer.

Thanks much for praying.

Hello,

Please be in prayer for my sister and Brother-in-law Roxie and Dick Phillips. Yesterday Roxie found their son, my nephew, Scottie dead in his bed. Scott was 30, and has had several medical issues all his life. It is not known if what the cause of death was most likely a heart attack in his sleep. The viewing will be tomorrow night and funeral on Thursday. We will be leaving early tomorrow morning to Atlanta. Thank you for praying for the family and for traveling mercies at this time.
