January 2004 Colon Report

Trust everyone is anticipating a great year in the Lord. Look forward to your faithful prayers. Thanks to all for the blessings of your love during 2003.

Salvations

I was looking over the monthly ministry stats for my southern staff co-workers. Since September to December there were nine Jewish people saved and six Gentiles. A Jewish girl that I’ve been counseling by phone was one that came to faith. It’s good to know and see the Lord blessing our work. Know that you all were part of this blessing.

Prayer

1. Mission conference Jan 24-28 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

2. Baby dedication on the 31st. This is a couple I had the privilege of officiating their marriage some years back. Last month, I dedicated the baby of another couple that I was asked to preside. It’s a blessing to see the couples grow and keep Christ the center of their family. The occasions are used as a witness for the unsaved Jewish members that attend.

3. FOI Directors meeting in New Jersey on February 8-11

4. Bible conference in Valdosta, Ga., February 21-25

5. Mission Conference, Feb 28, Port St Lucie, Fla.

Antiquities

Some have asked if I’m still collecting “ancient durable rubbish.” Yes I am. They do make great Bible illustrations. It’s been awhile. So, I’ll list a few of my latest acquisitions.

1. An Egyptian Bronze Mirror from the 22nd-23rd Dynasty (about the time of Jonah). The laver in the Tabernacle was

constructed from the mirrors donated by the women of Israel (Ex.38:8).

2. A Tiberius Denarius coin. The same type shown Jesus. “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are

Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s” (Mt. 22:21).

3. A Roman Era Bronze Fishing hook. Found by the shores of Galilee. “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of

men” (Mt. 4:19).

Clarification

I mentioned last time about getting a new banjo made by the premier banjo maker Greg Deering. Some (especially from the Midwest) were under the impression I meant John Deer. The latter makes farm equipment not banjos. Be assured I haven’t gone farming.
