I am sending this to all of you as a prayer request. My wife Juanita has been bedridden for over a year now. She is in desperate need of gastric bypass surgery but the insurance company does not want to pay for it. We have hired a lawyer to force their hand but we continue to get the run-around. Because of this situation she has now developed heart problems and the doctor tells us that her condition is now life-threatening. She does not complain but it breaks our hearts to see her suffer. She cannot even lie down to sleep but must sleep sitting up. In the last few months her mobility has decreased greatly.

This surgery starts at around $20,000 but often has complications that could run into hundreds of thousands of dollars. For that reason, many surgeons will not perform the surgery unless the family’s health insurance agrees to pay. . In the past this was considered “cosmetic surgery” and that is why they do not want to cover it. Unfortunately in Juanita’s case, it is not cosmetic but life-threatening.

Of course we don’t have $20,000 but that is a mute point. I am just asking you to pray that the Lord would move on their hearts and the insurance company officials will accept their responsibility and approve the procedure immediately. We as a family would all appreciate your prayers on her behalf, not only for the surgery but also for her comfort while waiting.
