Subject: Back to the jungle!

Greetings to all,

I just wanted to let you al know what I will be up to for the next few
days. I will heading to the jungle from Wednesday through Sunday to a
small village where the Waorani (Auca) Indians live. This Sunday,
January 8 marks 50 years since five missionaries were killed by the
Waorani Indians as they were trying to make peaceful contact. I will be
representing HCJB World Radio as about 400 people gather in this jungle
town accessible only by airplane or river to celebrate what God has done
with this once savage tribe. We will be having a couple of days of
testimonies of what God had done in the lives of these people and will
end the weekend with a special communion service on "Palm Beach", the
same river beach where the missionaries were speared to death. (You
might be watching for the movie "End of the Spear" which has just come
out in theaters across the US which is the story of the the killing of
the missionaries.)

I was at the dedication of the first Bibles delivered to the Waoranis,
which were printed in our print shop, in 1992. It will be great to go
back to see what God has done among these people.

I will be traveling to the town of Shell where our jungle hospital is
and from there taking a Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF) plane into
Tonyampari.

Please be in prayer for these people as many will be walking many miles
through the jungles to arrive. And pray for the weather so that we will
be able to get in and out of the village on schedule. I'll let you know
how things went after I return.
