Subject: My Marathon!
Hi Y’all!
As most of you know if you’re receiving this email, I’ve had a long-time wish to run a marathon….. Well, last Saturday I took my first step toward that goal by running a half marathon in Bangkok. (That’s 21 kilometers/ 13 miles). Here I am just seconds after crossing the finish line (No beauty pageant awards for this picture, for sure!)…. Very tired feet, but feeling very happy! It was 93 degrees when we started the event at 5 p.m. (Am I crazy to run in that kind of heat, or what??). This was one of my best runs ever! It was kind of fun to hear the other foreigners complaining about the heat—but I have trained in the heat, so while it felt hot for sure, it was just “normal” to me.
I chose this particular race as my first in memory of John Pettit, Jr., age 8. He, too, loved to run.
Please continue to keep the Pettit family in your prayers as they adjust to their new life without John.
