Monday Morning Report - August 8, 2005

Greetings everyone,

Paula and I have now completed one week here in Littleport, Cambridgeshire, England. Last week was chock full of activity as we continued to meet and encourage the believers here.

We gave our testimonies at a church meeting on Thursday evening, and attended the church outreach to kids called "the Buzz Club." There were 65 kids (ages 5-11) that came out for games, treats and they had what the leaders call "quiet time." It was amazing to see that many kids be in such good behavior for about 30 minutes as the leaders led them in songs and stories from God's word.

Annie, age 11, came up to Paula near the end of the evening and introduced herself as ½ American. Her father is an American and her mother is English. Paula was able to turn the conversation to spiritual things and Annie trusted Christ as Savior. The seeds had been sown in her life for the past 18 months of her coming to the Buzz Club. She promised Paula that she would come to church on Sunday AM.

The Sunday AM service was a delight. Rich brought the message and there were 19 adults in the service as well as 15 kids. It was really a good group. Annie came and we were able to meet her mother. We gave Annie her own Bible and she said that we would see her again this coming Friday night.

The church also has an outreach to older kids and teens called The Rock Club. The Rock Club met on Saturday evening and there were 5 young people that came out. This is a new ministry that they are developing.

Phil, the church Elder, has said that they can get kids and teens to come into the church for these clubs, what the church needs is someone to teach them what to do once the kids are there. We pray that in our time here, we can do some training in this area. We believe that there are many more like Annie, who need that one on one time with someone so that the gospel can be presented in a real personal way.

We praise God for what He is doing to build His church. We thank you for your prayers, your support and for your continued encouragement. We praise God that because of you, Annie was able to hear the gospel and the Lord could work in her heart.

Please pray for us during the next two plus weeks here in England. Pray that God would use us to be an encouragement to the small group of believers. Pray that hearts would be receptive to our teaching and to the gospel.

In His love and ours,

Rich, for the both of us

Greetings everyone,
Paula and I are now ministering in another church in England. We have begun our third week here and we are located in the town of Sudbury, Suffolk. The church, Lawshall Free Church, is located in the village of Lawshall and is a regional church for about 7 area villages.

Yesterday I preached in both the morning and evening services. We will be spending this week meeting and encouraging the small congregation of about 20.

We had a very productive 2 weeks in the Little Port Evangelical Church. I preached a total of 4 times and also led the devotional time for the Friday night Kids group called the Buzz Club.

Paula had the opportunity to share Christ with two children and 2 adults. The two children, Annie and Emmie, both trusted Christ as Savior. The two adults have not as yet trusted Christ.

Paula and I met a Muslim man at a Turkish restaurant in Littleport. The church leaders have been eating at this restaurant for more than 4 years. When Paula was standing at the "take out" counter this man saw a paper that Paula was holding in her hand. All he could see was the word "Christian" in the heading. He looked at Paula and said to her, tell me how to become a Christian. His English is not very good so he wanted the plan written down. Paula asked him if we could meet with him this past Monday and give him some literature that his wife could translate for him. He now has this literature and we are praying that he will be receptive to God's word.

Prayer Requests:

Adam, the Muslim man, that he will understand the Word of God and trust Christ as Savior.

Louise, a young woman who is "almost persuaded".

Our week with the people of the Lawshall Free Church.

Praises:

Emmie, a new believer - that she will grow in Christ and be discipled by her grandparents who are believers.

For the two weeks of ministry at Littleport Evangelical Church, and the love that the people showed to us.

Thank you for your prayers, support and notes of encouragement. You are the ones that God uses to make our ministry possible.

In His love and ours,

Rich, for the both of us
